HoGent is a school For higher education. This college has many different branches in education. During the period that I worked here as a visiting professor, I excecuted this as a second job for which I was employed for 35%.
Here I thaught the course OOSD II, which stands for Object Oriented Software Development II. This is a course that educates freshmen to develop in Java during there second half year.
In addition, I coached freshmen student teams in developing their project for the course SDP I, which stands for Software Development Project I. This is a course that enables freshmen students to apply their already acquired knowledge in practice by developing a board game. This year's game was "Kingdomino".
My package of tasks was composed of preparing the lesson, teaching the course, coaching the students, helping preparing exams, evaluating exams and providing feedback to the students about their performance.
The technical level of this job was rather limited, because I tutored freshmen. The difficulty here was explaining the course in a clear way and coaching groups without giving away too much information.
My goal with this job truly was to pass on my passion for software development (and IT in general) to the next generation of IT people.
